Workshop Title: Mindful Art
Date / Time: Tuesday 5th May / 10.30am-1pm
Location: The Party Tent (behind the Craigtoun Cafe)
Ticket Price: £30 per person
Workshop Description:
This type of artwork is perfect for those who think 'I'm not very artistic' as the paint does all the hard work for you - and on top of being highly calming and relaxing, it's also a lot of FUN!
The workshop will run for approximately 2.5 hours and the cost is inclusive of all materials and a light refreshment. You will have the opportunity to create two canvas paintings and will be shown several different techniques that you can use. Following the workshop, you will have your own artwork to display in your home to remind you every day to stay mindful.
During the Mindful Art workshop, we will cover various fluid art techniques and use these to practice mindfulness. You will be guided through some different techniques and shown how different effects can be achieved by using various tools and methods, before having the opportunity to pour your own creations. During the creative process, we will take some time to reflect on the present moment and practice some mindfulness exercises which you will be able to apply again and again with your finished pieces, as well as any other piece of artwork, by seeing it in a mindful way. We will have a break halfway through the class where you will be provided with a drink and a sweet treat.
You will also be given the option to have a piece of high quality, one of a kind jewellery created just for you using the same paint as your own painting. (This is an additional cost and prices start at £10.) This memento of your experience can act as a wonderful daily reminder to stay mindful or can make a lovely self-made gift for a loved one.
Class participants generally leave feeling relaxed, having had a fun experience at the same time!
