Portugal laurel

Our Portugal Laurel is close to the entrance to the Japanese Garden, at the south east corner of the Boating Pond.

  • A large evergreen shrub or a small tree

  • Native to southwest France, Spain and Portugal

  • Bears fragrant, small, white flowers in early summer

  • Flowers are followed by small, red-purple fruits which are attractive to birds but can be harmful to children and pets

  • Popular for hedging being evergreen and fast growing
