Craigtoun Seasonal Assistant, Elliot Comerford, was recently interviewed for an article in the Courier about summer jobs and gave a great account of his experience of working at Craigtoun over the past 4 years.
Although volunteering has always been very much at the heart of Craigtoun, it quickly became evident to the Friends that the attractions could not be run with volunteers alone and, back in that first summer of 2013, they took on the first of what would become a steady flow of Seasonal Staff. In 2016 the Craigtoun Cafe became another area of the park falling under the governance of the charity, thus creating even more job opportunities.
For many, working at Craigtoun has been their first step into the world of employment and it is always a pleasure to see them return year on year as they progress through school and university, ultimately leaving to take up full-time jobs elsewhere. Although we do occasionally advertise for staff ahead of a new season, we are very fortunate in that we are often able to meet our staffing needs via word-of-mouth alone with friends and relations of current staff applying on spec as word travels of the positive, friendly, working environment that Craigtoun provides.
