Tibetan Cherry

The penultimate tree on our trail is the Tibetan Cherry, which you will find on the grassy area north of the Putting Green.

  • Deciduous tree (loses its leaves in winter)

  • Discovered in China in 1908

  • Mainly grown for its unique mahogany peeling bark

  • Bark is heavily banded with bumpy lines (dull lenticels)

  • Flowers are tiny, yellow-white and fleeting

  • Fruits are small, red cherries

  • Unusual small ornamental tree, attractive in all seasons
